A Family Camping Checklist will make sure that you have everything needed for your trip. Once you arrive at your campsite would not be a good time to find out you left something behind, such as your first aid kit. Therefore, even if you think you will remember, get out a piece of paper and a pencil and start planning.
Since you are tent camping, your needs will be a little different than others. The obvious is that you will need a tent, but also you will need camping equipment, supplies, food, and clothing. Since you will have children, they will need something to keep them occupied, don't forget to add them to you Family Camping Checklist.
It would be a good idea to purchase containers (various sized storage) for the items on the list and mark them accordingly. The more you camp the more likely to have items that you use for camping only. We did this ourselves with after our first trip.
We not only purchased the items and the containers but also put the camping checklist for the containers in a clear sheet and taped it to the inside of the lid. This has been a time saver. Before each trip, we review the list to make sure all of the items are in the containers, replace the items as necessary. Since you will have children, you may want to designate one container for the kids
Below are two links that will give you an idea of some of the items on each of these checklists.
Camping Equipment Checklist - includes items that are needed for each trip
Camping Supply Checklist - includes items that are replaced each trip
This will be a list that you determine what is included. There will be some basic food items that you will take on every trip and other just for the trip you are about to take. Camp Cooking page goes into more detail as to develop you Camping Food List, which includes Camping Menu and Recipes. Making you list will assure that you have all of the food with you and can be part of your packing list.
Other pages that maybe included with your Family Camping checklist that may be useful are Clothing List, Packing List, and
Activity List. These are list that will be ever changing depending on where you are
going, how long you will be gone, and what time of year. To easily
create these list, if you are computer suave is to create a spreadsheet
for each of them and edit them when planning each trip.
