Camp Stove Recipes

Many people have electric stoves so preparing Camp Stove Recipes may take a little time to get use to.  Cooking on a Camp Stove is almost like cooking on your stove at home, especially if you have a gas stove.  Because you are limited to the number of burners, don't let that limit your choice of recipes.

Fuel Usage

Be aware of the amount of fuel you have before you start cooking.  On your first trip with your camping stove, it is wise to take more fuel than you think you will need.  After a trip or two, you will be able to judge the amount of fuel you will need.

Your goal obviously is to prepare for your family or yourself.  However, as you prepare you meal you also what to conserve the amount of fuel you use.  One would be amazed how fast the fuel is used up.  No one wants to run out of fuel when brewing coffee in the morning.

Unless you are boiling water, it is wiser to start with a low flame and gradually raise it to the proper temperature.  The dial on the stove has marking to help you relate the height of the flame to the temperature.

Like any other of camp cooking preparation is a key factor.  As in any recipe you want to have everything everything chopped, cut, opened and the pan in hand, when you light the stove.

Preparing Camp Stove Recipes

Many camping recipes can be cooked differently.  A Dutch Oven or Campfire Recipe can be cooked on a camping stove and visa versa.  Since some camping stoves have grill capability, you may choose not to use your campfire for cooking especially of there are just one or two people in your group.

You only have one or two burners to work with so keep that in mind when choosing your recipes.  You will find there are a lot of recipes that are one pan recipes that are delicious.

Combining two types of cooking such Foil Packets and Camping Stove can expand your choices.  One could be used for cooking the meat and the other for the sides.  Then it is just a matter of timing.  Also if your Dutch Oven calls for the meat to be browned first, the camp stove can be used instead, while you get the coals ready.
